The big changes here are the addition of new, partially-adjustable USD forks and a firmer piggy-back shock, designed to address the biggest Z750 criticism: cheap, soft suspension. There’s also radial brakes, which should up the posing quotient by at least 25bhp, but the pressed aluminum swingarm should actually drop some weight and add some stiffness over the old, square steel item. The new Kawasaki Z750R features a sharper front cowl, a multi-piece cowl construction, more aggressive and a multi-faceted design that looks better than its predecessor. The luxurious two-tone coloring, front fender with new fork guard portions, sharper turn signals gives the Z750R futuristic visual appeal. The sporty R-model instrumentation is inspired from flight decks. A black-backed analogue-style tachometer sits alongside the speedometer.

Kawasaki Z750R comes with a bottom-link uni-trak rear suspension featuring a nitrogen gas-charged shock with piggyback reservoir. With the help of this suspension, the rear shocks will synchronize with the front forks, thereby offering exceptional road handling. The stunning new Z750R, launched in Europe, seems to introduce a new level of feedback and style to the popular and yet growing naked class of bikes. We are still waiting to hear whether this motorcycle will make it stateside anytime soon. Until then, below is the latest information available on the new machine.

Triumph have released details of their forthcoming 2011 Sprint GT due to land in Australia in September 2010. The new bike replaces the 1050cc Sprint ST with a move towards offering more of a complete touring package rather than trying to accommodate two different approaches. The 2011 Sprint GT is said to generate 130hp yet as with most tourers and even sports tourers, big power claims are not the name of the game here.

Instead Triumph have focussed in on offering more practical solutions with new 31 litre panniers, ABS brakes as standard, underseat storage, built in rack with well appointed grab rail, 320 plus Km fuel range (Approximate) and an optional top box capable of swallowing two full sized helmets and offering a 12 volt power supply to allow ‘on the go’ charging of electrical items such as laptops and mobile phones.

That is not to say the Sprint GT has lost the sporting edge that made the Sprint ST one of the most popular and enduring bikes in the Triumph range. As you would expect from a British machine wearing the famous Grand Tourer tag, the Sprint GT delivers outstanding real world performance in a practical and stylish package.
Chassis-wise, everything from the back of the gas tank rearward is completely new, while everything forward is largely the same, save for a few improvements that include a redesigned upper fairing and headlight array, and revised damping in the conventional right-side-up fork to reduce front-end dive when braking. Also, ABS is now standard, working with lighter brake rotors pinched by reformulated pads.

The maneuverability reduction from the longer wheelbase seems to be offset by a narrower tires and more aggressive chassis geometry. Power-to-weight ratio is much lower on the GT than the previous model, but it apparently still retains fine cornering and handling, despite the extra weight. And, of course, for the “touring” side of the sport-touring equation, the extra heft and longer wheelbase make for a steadier highway ride.

The naked FZ8 is designed to be a machine with attitude. Muscular, aggressive design gives onlookers a hint of this bike’s serious intentions. Yamaha says this is not a bike for beginners, the FZ8 is a pure expression of performance and quality craftsmanship.

With the semi-faired Fazer8, the emphasis is placed firmly on getting out there and enjoying the roads, whatever the weather. Discover sportsbike performance and handling, with the aerodynamics, wind and weather protection of a front cowl and screen. It’s a solid step up in performance and quality.Yamaha has finally released full specifications for its new middleweight street sportsbikes, the naked FZ8-N and semi-faired Fazer8. A 779cc engine derived from the FZ1 donk is the star of the show, with a complete FZ1 frame and swingarm as well. The new engine makes significantly more torque than the smaller FZ6 for a gruntier, more accessible power curve around town - but builds to a healthy 105-horsepower top end rush when it's time to get a boogie on. It looks like a fun, fast and friendly street sportsbike - and yes, FZ6 fans, it has formally replaced the 600 in the FZ lineup.

There is no perfect motorcycle, but nearly every modern motorcycle is astoundingly good. This wasn’t always the case with automobiles and motorcycles. I have a copy of a Car and Driver magazine from February of 1978. In it is a story by P.J. O’Rourke that chronicles his driving a 1956 Buick from Florida to California. He barely made it. The Buick had electrical issues, overheating issues, and a near terminal case of vapour lock. The Buick, at the time of the trip, was a 21-year-old car.

New 2011 Ducati 848 EVO

Ducati 848 EVO Preview

The legendary Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati released information on the 2011 848EVO, the newest version of its famous lightweight Superbike that will be released late July 2010.

The bike contains the usual features that makes thousands of motorcyclist eagerly seek Ducati's famed Superbike: twin under-seat silencers, single-sided swingarm, Trellis frame, race bodywork and steering damper.

The 2011 848EVO maintains the traditional colour of Ducati red with red frame and black wheels and introduces the new "dark stealth" with racing black frame and black wheels.

Ducati unveiled today the 2011 848 Evo, the most impressive lightweight Superbike ever with more power from the Testastretta engine and more braking power. It will go on sale at a price of £9,995 for the 848 EVO Dark Stealth version (it includes the stunning new "dark stealth" paint with racing black frame and black wheels) and £10,695 for the 848 Evo.

Italian passion for motorsport is synonymous with the stunning performance, soul-stirring sound and seductive, liquid-red styling inherent to a long bloodline of championship-winning Ducati sportbikes. Yesterday's triumph, however, is just that, and the bigger the trophy, the more dust it tends to attract.

Ducati 848 EVO New Ducati 848 EVO 2011

We obtained the very first EVO-spec bike to arrive stateside and promptly put it through our full street and track test regimen. Strapped to CW's Dynojet dyno, the EVO produced 118.5 rear-wheel hp, a mere 1.5-pony increase over the 848 we tested this past year.

Torque builds quickly off idle before easing into a soft spot around 5000 rpm. While the mid-rpm lull is perceptible even at slight throttle settings, fueling remains good, allowing the bike to cruise dead-steady in the lull zone at freeway speeds. The sweet spot for smooth running spans from 4000 to 5000 rpm, yielding an indicated 70 to 87 mph in top gear with only modest engine vibration seeping through the handgrips.

In the braking department, Brembo monobloc calipers round out the changes.

The rest of the changes are cosmetic, with the EVO available in “Dark” edition. What makes it Dark? We’ll let Ducati PR explain: “For 2011, a special “Dark” version will be available; which unlike “Dark” editions of Ducati’s past will be a truly black bike from front to rear, giving the motorcycle an aggressive look and attitude.”

The early arrival of the 2011 848 EVO will see bikes available to order from 20th July 2010, with demo bikes arriving at dealers by end of July and customer orders shipped within September.
