The new engine makes significantly more torque than the smaller FZ6 for a gruntier, more accessible power curve around town - but builds to a healthy 105-horsepower top end rush when it's time to get a boogie on. It looks like a fun, fast and friendly street sportsbike - and yes, FZ6 fans, it has formally replaced the 600 in the FZ lineup.

There is no perfect motorcycle, but nearly every modern motorcycle is astoundingly good. This wasn’t always the case with automobiles and motorcycles. I have a copy of a Car and Driver magazine from February of 1978. In it is a story by P.J. O’Rourke that chronicles his driving a 1956 Buick from Florida to California. He barely made it. The Buick had electrical issues, overheating issues, and a near terminal case of vapour lock. The Buick, at the time of the trip, was a 21-year-old car.

Suzuki has announced the launch of the 2011 KingQuad 750AXi, KingQuad 750AXi Power Steering, KingQuad 750AXi Camo Edition and the KingQuad 750AXi Power Steering Camo Edition.

This announcement comes just a few weeks after Suzuki announced the early release of the 2011 KingQuad 500AXi Power Steering.

The legendary Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati released information on the 2011 848EVO, the newest version of its famous lightweight Superbike that will be released late July 2010.

The bike contains the usual features that makes thousands of motorcyclist eagerly seek Ducati's famed Superbike: twin under-seat silencers, single-sided swingarm, Trellis frame, race bodywork and steering damper.

The 2011 848EVO maintains the traditional colour of Ducati red with red frame and black wheels and introduces the new "dark stealth" with racing black frame and black wheels.

Ducati unveiled today the 2011 848 Evo, the most impressive lightweight Superbike ever with more power from the Testastretta engine and more braking power. It will go on sale at a price of £9,995 for the 848 EVO Dark Stealth version (it includes the stunning new "dark stealth" paint with racing black frame and black wheels) and £10,695 for the 848 Evo.

Italian passion for motorsport is synonymous with the stunning performance, soul-stirring sound and seductive, liquid-red styling inherent to a long bloodline of championship-winning Ducati sportbikes. Yesterday's triumph, however, is just that, and the bigger the trophy, the more dust it tends to attract.

We obtained the very first EVO-spec bike to arrive stateside and promptly put it through our full street and track test regimen. Strapped to CW's Dynojet dyno, the EVO produced 118.5 rear-wheel hp, a mere 1.5-pony increase over the 848 we tested this past year.

Torque builds quickly off idle before easing into a soft spot around 5000 rpm. While the mid-rpm lull is perceptible even at slight throttle settings, fueling remains good, allowing the bike to cruise dead-steady in the lull zone at freeway speeds. The sweet spot for smooth running spans from 4000 to 5000 rpm, yielding an indicated 70 to 87 mph in top gear with only modest engine vibration seeping through the handgrips.

Suspension:

The rest of the changes are cosmetic, with the EVO available in “Dark” edition. What makes it Dark? We’ll let Ducati PR explain: “For 2011, a special “Dark” version will be available; which unlike “Dark” editions of Ducati’s past will be a truly black bike from front to rear, giving the motorcycle an aggressive look and attitude.”

The early arrival of the 2011 848 EVO will see bikes available to order from 20th July 2010, with demo bikes arriving at dealers by end of July and customer orders shipped within September.

2011 Husqvarna TE 449

For the 2011 TE 449, Husqvarna placed much innovative thought into the enduro's design, motor and chassis.

The first thing noticeable is the design, as Husky describes it: "slim, svelte and refined." The company owned by BMW improved the ergonomics and redesigned the bodywork, which also makes maintenance easier, such as accessing the air filter, rear shock and throttle body.

The TE 125 and SMS 4 are the new four stroke 125 cc motorcycles from Husqvarna, aimed at young fans of the brand: the TE 125 for newcomers to enduro, SMS 4 for a touch of supermotard and speed in urban traffic.Both inherit a look that is particularly aggressive and appealing, reflecting the style of the bikes used in races by the official Husqvarna team.

The crux of this concept is the union of the rear wheel swing arm pivot point and the gearbox output shaft sprocket. This solution, which Husqvarna calls CTS (Coaxial Traction System), eliminates the variation in the length of the chain during rear suspension movement, minimizing the effect of the final drive on the bikes handling.

Aesthetics, technology and serviceability too: the graphics on the side panels are applied using the ‘In Mould Design' technology for increased resistance to wear and the 2 litre fuel pump housing is transparent so that the remaining fuel level can be easily monitored.

Again, continuing the theme of mass centralization, the two part fuel tank design provides a total of 8.5 liters capacity in a low mounted 2 liter pump housing and a 6,5 liter under seat main tank. The under seat fuel tank layout permits the airbox to be located in a protected and fluidodynamically favorable position above the engine with the actual air intake being at the height of the steering column, in a raised and sheltered position to minimize the intake of dust or water.

The TE 449 is equipped with a cutting-edge 4 valve dual camshaft engine which has been significantly improved thanks to the experience gained by Husqvarna in its many years of offroad racing.

Fuel delivery is managed by an electronic injection system with a Keihin 46 mm diameter, double flap throttle body which provides progressive and predictable throttle response.

All components are top of the range - the bike even comes with two exhaust silencers: the Euro 3 compliant silencer fitted as standard and a steel Akrapovic Racing exhaust, developed in collaboration with the Slovenian company to maximize the potential of the engine, whilst minimizing the weight.

The single overhead camshaft (SOHC) 4-stroke, liquid-cooled 124.45 cc engine is the same for both versions, TE and SMS4. Cylinder bore and stroke length are 52 mm and 58.6 mm, with a compression ratio of 11.2:1.

Both versions have 6 gears, but with different final speed ratios for the two models, to optimize performance in all conditions - urban traffic or dirt track.

The 125 cc engine ensures reduced emissions and consumption and is rated EU3. It has a Keihin 29 mm carburettor and electric ignition.

The lubrication is wet sump with claw pump and cartridge filter.

Handling

Naturally, Husqvarna's long experience in Enduro racing has played an important part in the development of these new motorcycles. The challenges posed by the conception of geometry and by the general concept of the motorcycle itself were linked to the tough demands of riding in the most severe and extreme conditions. The result is a surprisingly effortless and smooth ride along with agility and outstanding steering stability.

The perimeter design chassis is made of high strength steel tubing. The geometry of the rear suspension is revolutionary, with a new linkage mounted on top of the alloy swing arm.

2011 Yamaha R1

But, Yamaha plans to use a different approach when compared to what Honda did with the twin-clutch tranny of the VFR 1200F. Unlike Honda’s approach, in which one input shaft passes through the other, Yamaha plans to use two input shafts which are half the length of a normal gearbox’s single shaft. Also, the two clutches in the Yamaha twin-clutch tranny will be positioned at either sides of the transmission, to offer better weight distribution.
The technique though that Yamaha plans to use will be different from the one that Honda has employed. Unlike Honda, where one input shaft passes through the other, Yamaha plans to use two input shafts that are half the length of a normal gearbox’s single shaft. Also, the two clutches will be placed on either side of the vehicle for perfect weight distribution.
As per Yamaha, the new twin clutch gearbox are enough compact to provide smooth transition during gear changes, and at the same time not affect the balance of the bike after mounting the gearbox.
